The Emirati company Space42 signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Leonardo DRS on 12/8/2026, establishing a framework to integrate Leonardo DRS mission systems with Space42’s secure satellite communications architecture.
The MoU supports the UAE’s development of sovereign national-security capabilities, initially focused on Beyond Line of Sight (BLOS) connectivity for mobile command assets.
Under the arrangement, Leonardo DRS will contribute its expertise in C5ISR mission systems, including mission computers and associated software, while Space42 will provide secure, artificial intelligence (AI)-enabled satellite communications and BLOS connectivity.
