On 11 February 2026, Lieutenant General Ashraf Salem Zaher Ali Mansour assumed leadership of Egypt’s Ministry of Defense and Military Production (MoMP) following a limited cabinet reshuffle approved by the Egyptian parliament and formalized during a swearing-in ceremony presided over by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.
Mansour, previously the Commandant of the Egyptian Military Academy, replaced General Abdel Majeed Saqr. His appointment reflects a decision within Egypt’s defense establishment to place a figure with operational credibility and experience in military industrial programs at the center of the country’s defense manufacturing agenda.
