Following the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the U.S. and Iran, several GCC states expressed to the U.S. administration their lack of trust in Iran's commitment to cease attacks on them and asked for more substantial guarantees.
In this context came the GCC tour of U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio to the UAE, Kuwait, and Bahrain. In Manama, Rubio took part in the U.S.-GCC Joint Ministerial Meeting on 25/6/2026.
