Qatar is leading mediation efforts to mend the rift between Saudi Arabia and the UAE. Doha is preparing a working paper to break the deadlock between Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman (MBS) and UAE President Mohammad Bin Zayed (MBZ), at the latter's request.
Abu Dhabi’s request stemmed from the conviction that the Qatari leadership enjoys trusted communication channels with MBS and, at the same time, maintains a stable personal and institutional relationship with MBZ, which allows it to serve as a messenger and help alleviate accumulated tensions with Riyadh.
